In Ludlow tonight (what a beautiful town it is, incidentally), camping out at the racecourse and having a recovery glass of wine in the bar. All very civilised. Today we went from Bath, up onto the Cotswolds, along into Ross on Wye (also lovely) via Coleford. The terrain was pretty brutal in the middle section, which was unexpectedly horrible, but very beautiful! The last 30 miles were much better, into Ludlow. Tomorrow, it’s off to Haydock via the Cheshire plains, and supposedly flatter. Hmmm – they said that about today!
